In 1995 he became a staff-sound-engineer (“tonmeister”) mainly in the field of production sound and post-production. High quality audio for documentaries has become his field of special interest. He mixed the first program of the ORF in Dolby Surround (“Arctic Northeast”) and is now responsible for all aspects of Multichannel Audio in the ORF. Mr. Camerer had produced several dramas, post-pro and location recording on numerous wildlife and adventure programs, all sound for major ORF-series Arctic Northeast — Franz-Joseph Land, and many others.

Florian Camerer started as a sound assistant for ORF, the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation, in the film and post production department. First working as a boom operator he developed a keen interest in documentaries which led to a 10 year stint as a sound engineer on location as well as editing and mixing.
During this period he was introduced to surround sound, and mixed ORF's first documentary in Dolby Surround as well as the first one in 5.1 multichannel audio. He played a key role in ORF's move towards surround sound transmission, with the premiere broadcast taking place on 1 January 2003 with the world-famous New Year's Concert of the Vienna Philharmonic. He is involved with all aspects of multichannel audio at ORF and lectures on an international basis.
